The shoulder instrument set includes all of the specialized instruments required for the use of Tigon's Manticore line of bone anchors. The set is to be used for labral and rotator cuff repairs. All of the surgeries performed with the set use the reusable Quick Connect Handles, allowing for attachment of many of the instruments to the same handle. This feature reduces waste and the weight of the tray, all while saving space in the hospital. The instruments in this set have gone through many design iterations to maximize their functionality, durability, and ease of use.
The Tigon Medical shoulder instrument case is a compact, single layer tray that contains all the reusable instruments needed to complete a rotator cuff repair. The case features brackets to securely hold the instruments, as well as a compartment to store miscellaneous items and instruments that may be required during a surgery.
A reusable handle that allows for the use of many different instruments with the same durable, and ergonomic handle. Three Quick Connect Handles come in each set so you always have a handle ready. The rubber O-ring allows surgeons to easily secure the suture to the handle when inserting an anchor. Channels in each side of the handle provide a passageway for suture, keeping it out of the way and preventing any unnecessary wear or damage.
This Suture Passer is both ergonomic and highly functional. The dual action functionality provides the surgeon the ability to grab tissue without passing a suture until the desired position is acquired. The mouth of the passer is side loaded, and it includes a 'trap door' that automatically retrieves the suture after it is passed. The handle also features a port for easy cleaning.
The needle is a disposable device made out of nitinol and provides reliable use for the duration of the surgery.
Taking inspiration from the design of the Quick Connect Handle, the Lateral Knotless Handle has all of the same design features, and allows for the insertion of the threaded blocker inserter. The handle features black laser lines to aid in the insertion of the Lateral Anchor to the appropriate depth.
The Threaded Blocker is designed to work in conjunction with the Lateral Handle, to allow for secure insertion of the Lateral Anchor. The black laser lines are highly visible on the scope and the knurling on the back of the instrument allows for easy threading and unthreading of the anchor.
The 2.9 Cannulated Drill Guide holds positioning when drilling and inserting 2.9 mm anchors. It has a similar feel to the Quick Connect handle, but has a smaller diameter with reduced weight and size. The large cannulation gives the surgeon the ability to drill a pilot hole and insert the Labral Anchor without losing the location. The Cannula also features a black laser line that lines up with the Labral Anchor Inserter black laser line allowing for insertion to the appropriate depth.
The 3.5mm Tapered Awl is the go-to tool for creating pilot holes for a rotator cuff repair. This instrument features a tapered tip, which helps to create the perfect pilot hole in both diameter and depth for both the medial and lateral anchors. The taper also reduces the force needed to remove the awl from bone as it reduces friction and vacuum forces.
The medial tap is used to pre-tap a hole for the TIG55 medial anchor. When used, the tap reduces the torque placed on the anchor during insertion, especially in harder bone. Like the TIG55 suture anchor, the tap features a double start thread which halves the amount of turns needed to tap the hole.
The Labral inserter allows for a secure connection to the labral anchors that can be disengaged after insertion by a few counterclockwise turns of the handle. The handle also features laser lines to indicate insertion depth to get the appropriate amount of countersink.
The blunt version of the Medial Anchor Inserter is excellent due to the fact that the tip allows for easier location of the awl hole without the potential to snag on soft tissue. Like most instruments included in the set, the inserter features both the black laser lines and the quick connect attachment function.
The 2.3mm Drill is the go to drill for labral repair using the Manticore 2.9mm Labral Anchor. It is designed to function with the 2.9 cannula, and the larger diameter section on the back end creates a hard stop to ensure proper drill depth.
The 2.6mm Drill is the larger sibling to the 2.3mm drill. This drill is ideal in situations where bone is hard and a 2.3mm drill doesn't give the anchor enough space.
